We just returned from a photo expedition to the San Juan Mountains to capture the phenomenal fall color. We have never seen fall colors as vivid as these. The Gambel oaks and aspens were synchronized, creating color as far as the eye could see.
We camped two weeks in Ridgway State Park, off Highway 550 just south of Ridgway, Colorado. For a week we scouted various county and Forest Service roads around Ridgway, Ouray, and Telluride and created a schedule that estimated when peak color would occur. Then, the second week, we worked the locations we identified, returning several times to catch various lighting conditions.
What a trip! We hope you enjoy these photos.
Wowza! Explosively exquisite
Thank you so much. This year was magical!
Wow, you hit the fall color at a great time; especially with the snow. Too many gorgeous photos.
