London in high key is a study of architectural elements within the City. That is, I have turned the background to white — essentially nothing. All the better to focus the viewer’s attention on the abstract shapes and strange juxtapositions.
The high-key London collection
About this collection
Why did I do this? Well, it is a bit embarrassing. I had a limited amount of time to spend in London. And, it being London, the sky was heavily overcast with no detail or interest. Everything seemed gray and lifeless: that is, until I decided to make the monochromatic nature of the scenes a feature. I began viewing the architecture around me as abstractions. And, by exposing for the subject, I was able to eliminate the distracting background.
