I had the opportunity to conduct a workshop in Vancouver, Canada. Like most of my business trips, there was little time for sight-seeing. I did, however, carve out one day to drive the Sea-to-Sky Highway, also known as Highway 99.
About the Sea-to-Sky Highway
This highway traverses the Pacific coast of British Columbia from West Vancouver to Pemberton. However, I never made it to Pemberton because there were so many enticing views to photograph and one day was just not enough. Here is a great Website that tracks the Sea-to-Sky Highway and highlights all the places to stop along the way.
Photographs from along the Sea-to-Sky Highway
Here are photographs taken from scenic stops along the Sea-toSky Highway:
Whytecliff Park
Shannon Falls
Brandywine Falls
We were mesmerized by the changing light at Brandywine Falls. For the most part, it was raining lightly. But, occasionally, light would break through and highlight some part of the falls.
Strait of Georgia
As we were heading back to Vancouver, we stopped along the Sea-to-Sky Highway as the light was fading and captured this dramatic view of the Strait of Georgia, north of Lions Bay.
Locarno Beach
As we left the Sea-to-Sky Highway, our final stop was Locarno Beach in Vancouver. It was misting heavily and the atmosphere was ghostly. We were fortunate enough to see a freighter heading out into the Strait of Georgia. There were cormorants bobbing in the foreground and the ghostly skyline of West Vancouver in the distance.
