The 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville is a simplification and refinement over the first generation 1959 de Ville. There is a continuous line from front to back. The taillights are embedded within the swept-backed fins. And, the bumper bullets, or dagmars, have been eliminated—All in the name of aerodynamic elegance.
Photos of the 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville
This example is not in an original color for 1960. It has been painted in the Cadillac 1957 exterior color, Mountain Laurel. Absolutely beautiful.
About this photo shoot
We were taking eBay auction photos in a field surrounding our client’s storage barn. To get at the auction cars, we had to move a number of other cars . One of the cars we had to move out of the way was this Coupe de Ville. What a beauty! Once the sun hit that brilliant paint, and I knew I had to get a few shots to play with.
About the photos
This car was photographed under less than perfect conditions: It was about 1:30 in the afternoon in a nasty, weedy field. So, the challenge was to produce finished photographs that obscured the undesireable background and made the most of the bright sunlight.
So, we cut the car out of the field and placed it in a virtual studio and adjusted some virtual spot lights. You notice that we do not have any close-ups. The reason is that the car did not hold up to close inspection – oh well.
