Black Hills Landscapes

Black Hills Landscapes are especially stunning in the autumn. Gold and orange leaves break up the brooding darkness of the dark green evergreens.

Special Black Hills Landscapes to explore

The Black Hills of South Dakota contain many special locations to explore. For instance, there is Custer State Park, which includes such gems as Sylvan Lake, Wildlife Loop, Needle’s Eye Road, and the Needle’s Eye rock formation.

In addition, you don’t want to miss the Iron Mountain Highway that runs for 17 miles from Custer State Park to Mount Rushmore National Memorial. (You can see photos in this post). These two roads (Needle’s Eye and Iron Mountain highways) make up the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway.

And, there are two special underground attractions: Wind Cave National Park and Jewel Cave National Monument.
